Youth Ministry Update (November 1, 2011)
Hi I'm Penny, the new Director of Youth here at CPC! I'm extremely excited for all the new activities and service projects we have coming up. Check out the newsletter below to make sure you don't miss out on anything. We'll see you soon!
Service
On Super Bowl Sunday the youth particpate in the Souper Bowl of Caring and collect soup cans and dollars to donate to the Iron County Care and Share food bank.
Every Christmas Season the Youth adopt a family and shop for presents and food, wrap the presents, and deliver the gifts to the family before Christmas. This year they will also be creating and donating wreaths to be sold at Jubilee of Trees to benefit the NICU at the hospital in St. George.
The Youth will be participating in a 30 hr. famine April 27-28 to raise money for food for people in poverty stricken countries.
The youth adopted a child through Compassion International in the fall of 2010. Laxmi (right) was born December 20, 2003. She lives in India with her parents. She helps carry water, gather wood, cares for the family animals and loves to draw.
Retreats & Activities
The youth recently attended a retreat at Panguitch Lake where they stuffed themselves with cmpfire roasted hotdogs and smores, hiked Cooper's Mtn., and learned what their spiritual gifts where and how they can use them in their church and community to better serve our God.
Mission
The youth serve others through a mission trip each year usually during the summer. In recent years the youth have built houses in Mexico, provided labor at a soup kitchen in San Diego, and helped build houses for Habitat for Humanity in Los Angeles.
